The Elephant Khushi Khan
Not on view
The elephant Khushi Khan ("Lord of Happiness") stands caparisoned with ornamental trappings and a saddle cloth. He is identified by name in a cartouche, a convention of imperial studies of the Shah Jahan period. This inscription provides evidence of the individuality of such studies and their function as documents of history.
