Spruce gum box with elk motif in book form

This box is painted pink on all sides. As with other spruce gum boxes, the box is carved from a solid piece of wood with ends added. The front of the box is decorated with a silhouette of an elk in relief, surrounded by chip-carved diamond motifs. The back cover is carved with many diamond shapes filled with chip-carved patterning.
